Who we are
School Counselor
Jennifer Ostrosky
Bio: I am embarking on my fifteenth year in the Derby school district! I worked for eight years at Irving Elementary School, and then transferred to Derby High School in the 2015 school year. I graduated from Central Connecticut State University receiving a Bachelor's Degree with a major in Sociology and a minor in Psychology. After completing my Bachelor's degree, I worked as a one-on-one paraprofessional for a student with multiple disabilities. I then continued my education pathway by earning a Master’s Degree in School Counseling at Southern Connecticut State University. Currently, I am the advisor of the National Honor Society and the Valley SURGE council. My years in Derby have been filled with much joy and pride. Our students are the reason in which I have put down roots in the Derby School District. Not only do I find joy in raising my own two wonderful daughters and teaching them the skills needed to be successful in this ever changing society, but I also find pleasure in guiding our awesome students at DHS in reaching their fullest potential!
Adam Baker

I have been working in Derby since 2017, when I was a School Counseling intern at Derby High School. I was hired in 2018 as a School Counselor at Derby Middle School, where I spent one year. I have been a School Counselor at Derby High School since 2019. Throughout my time in Derby, I have coached Football, Boys Basketball and Baseball at DHS. I enjoy spending time with my fiancé and dog Charley.

Bio: I am new to Derby High School and am thrilled to be taking on a combination role as the Lead Advisory Teacher and School Counselor! I am coming back into the world of education after taking some time off to raise my two young boys, where previously, I was a high school English teacher. I graduated from University of Connecticut with a Bachelor’s Degree in English and my Master’s in Curriculum & Instruction, and recently earned my 6th Year Certificate of Advanced Study in School Counseling from Southern Connecticut State University. I am excited to be working with the team here to create meaningful learning experiences for the Advisory program that will allow students to grow academically, socially, emotionally, and in their future college and career goals. I am also happy to be working with students one-on-one in a School Counselor capacity and excited to be a co-advisor for the Valley SURGE Club, as well.
