Scholarships
Each year, Derby High School awards scholarships and prizes to the graduating seniors on behalf of many local organizations and sponsors. In addition, students may apply for other local scholarships through the guidance office. For more information or an application for the following scholarships, please stop in the guidance office. Please pay close attention to DEADLINES.
CSTA/ACM Cutler-Bell Scholarship
Deadline: Jan. 10, 2022, at 9 a.m.
$10,000- Award submitted to the university the student attends.
Eligibility Requirements:
Live in the United States
Be a graduating high school senior at an accredited school
Plan to continue studying computer science
Create an original computational artifact (e.g., program) submit to: Cutler- Bell Prize
Lockheed Martin STEM/Vocational Scholarship
Deadline: Jan. 10, 2022
$10,000- Award 200 recipients
Eligibility Requirements:
U.S. Citizen
High school senior OR high school graduate (or GED equivalent)
Have not earned a bachelor’s degree prior to the 2022-23 academic year.
Be currently enrolled or planning to enroll part- or full-time at one of the following types of accredited institutions: vocational technical school, trade school, two-year community college or state college.
Be pursuing an associate’s degree, credit-bearing certificate or an industry-recognized credential, in one of the STEM fields of study, with an anticipated completion date no earlier than December 2022 and no later than June 2025.

Educator' Legacy Scholarship
Deadline: Admission to McDaniel College pursuing a degree as an K-12th Educator
$30,000 awarded per semester (Over award $100,000+)
Eligibility Requirements:
High School Senior
Undergraduate transfer students who enter McDaniel College for the first time and who have not yet attained a bachelor's degree
Parent or guardian must meet educator eligibility requirements and a completed Eligibility Form must be received by McDaniel College.

DAV Scholarship

$30,000; $20,000; $15,000; $10,000; $7,500 2- Awards; and $5,000-4 Awards
Eligibility Requirements:
Awarded to any volunteer who is age 21 or younger and has volunteered for a minimum of 100 hours through DAV or DAV Auxiliary.
Volunteer hours can be accumulated at a VA medical center, and/or the Local Veterans Assistance Program (LVAP). Hours must be credited to Disabled American Veterans.
Any accredited institution of higher learning; to include universities, colleges, community colleges, vocational schools, etc.
Recipient attaining the age of 25, or within 6 years of receiving the scholarship, whichever is later.
Nominations for this award may be submitted by the applicant, Voluntary Service Program Managers at VA medical centers, members of DAV departments and chapters, or friends and family.

Women's Cyber Security Scholarships

Michael Johnson Scholarship

CT Resident, High School Senior
The student does not need to show financial need to qualify for this scholarship.
To continue to qualify for this scholarship, the student must pass and report to CNF about their progress via a presentation at a winter or summer meeting, a written essay, or a video.

Must be a high school senior attending school in the Greater New Haven area and vicinity.
Must intend to pursue a career in Education.

Exceptional accomplishments of Connecticut secondary school seniors
Exceptional academic notable service to school and community, possess the qualities of a good citizen and leader.
In addition, all semifinalists and finalists in the National Hispanic Recognition Program or the National Merit Semifinalist Competition are eligible for a nomination.

Day of Pride Scholarship
Deadline : October 30, 2022
Eligibility Requirements:
Awarded to outstanding Connecticut secondary school seniors from disadvantaged backgrounds who have proven academic ability as demonstrated through high school grades, test scores (test-optional), class rank, and letters of recommendation
Commitment to diversity and multiculturalism, demonstrated leadership, and contributions to their community, students should have documented financial need
Nominations are made by the Guidance Counselor's Office at each Connecticut high school.
Awards are based upon a very competitive selection process.

Presidential Scholars Award for Valedictorians and Salutatorians:
Deadline: December 1, 2022
Eligibility Requirements
Students who rank number one or two in their graduating class will be considered for the Presidential Scholars Award.
An additional one-time Enrichment Award is made available to allow the Presidential Scholar to engage in educationally or professionally enriching activities. For details on how the Enrichment Award may be used, visit http://presidentialscholars.uconn.edu/eligibility/.
