Kindergarten registration for the 2024-2025 School Year is now open



New Kindergarten Age Guidance for Families 

In October, the CSDE developed guidance for districts regarding the statutory change for kindergarten entry beginning in school year 2024-25. That publication can be found here: New Entry Age for Kindergarten: Considerations for Connecticut Schools. The CSDE and the State Office of Early Childhood (OEC) have developed family-friendly guidance documents to help families understand the change and provide resources to find answers to questions and concerns. The publications are provided in five languages: Arabic, English, Haitian Creole, Portuguese, Spanish.

If your child does not meet the age requirement and you wish to submit a wavier, please see the following information letters below. The letters have more detailed instructions about the waiver process as well as contact information and links to the forms to submit your student's name(s) for consideration. Steps to register your child for school in Derby:

REGISTRATION DOCUMENTATION CHECKLIST 

Documentation listed below is required by the Derby Public School Board of Education in order to register your child. Please use this checklist to track the documents you need to collect. A parent or legal guardian is required to register student(s). 

Locate the elementary school your student will attend

LITTLE RAIDERS UNIVERSITY

Registration for Little Raiders University is on a first-come, first-serve basis.
