Each year, Derby High School awards scholarships and prizes to the graduating seniors on behalf of many local organizations and sponsors. In addition, students may apply for other local scholarships through the guidance office. For more information or an application for the following scholarships, please stop in the guidance office. Please pay close attention to DEADLINES.
niche scholarship
Covering the cost of college expenses for four years without writing a single essay? Sounds too good to be true. It isn't with Niche. We are giving one student $10,000 to help pay for tuition, living expenses, books, and other educational expenses.
The $10,000 Scholarship is an easy scholarship with no essay required! Only one entry allowed per person. The winner will be determined by random drawing and then contacted directly and announced in Niche's e-newsletter and on the Scholarship Winners page.

The Helpjuice Scholarship is to help propel forward the next generation of Internet and Technology Entrepreneurs, developers and marketers. We aim to help two students, each year with their studies or ventures, with a $1400 stipend. Whether you are studying to be a software developer, designer, marketer, or entrepreneur, we want to help you achieve your goals.
Who Qualifies For The Scholarship?
Helpjuice will stipend $1400 per student, for two students/freshmen. The $1400 stipend is to be transferred to the University towards the tuition fee. We will consider all applications, regardless of background, country, degree, or year of study. Helpjuice is a leader in the knowledge base software space, founded in 2011 with headquarters in Miami, FL. Although our office is in Miami, we pride ourselves on being a remote-first company.

Disability Advocacy scholarship

Award Amount: $1,000
ABC Law Centers is proud to offer our Disability Advocacy Scholarship! Our firm will award one annual scholarship in the amount of $1,000 to an undergraduate or graduate student planning to pursue a law or public policy career focused on disability advocacy.
The Disability Advocacy Scholarship award will be granted by a panel of judges to a single applicant who meets the below criteria and has submitted all required application materials outlined below by the deadline of July 31st.
Eligibility Requirements:
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
Be enrolled at an institution of higher education in the United States (either as an undergraduate or graduate student).
Have a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
*Scholarship is not available to present or future clients of ABC Law Centers (owned by Reiter & Walsh, P.C.).
Applicants must submit the following materials by July 31st:

Describe your interest and/or your personal experience in disability advocacy. What does advocacy mean to you? How do you plan to incorporate disability advocacy into your career?

A creative project. Examples can include, but are not limited to: photo projects; video or other multimedia presentations (videos not to exceed five minutes); creative writing; or performance pieces.

Leaders save lives scholarship
Deadline: August 31, 2024
Awards Available: 10
Award Amount: $2,500
To qualify for the American Red Cross Leaders Save Lives Program each Blood Program Leader must complete the following requirements: :
Be currently enrolled in high school, college, university, technical school, trade school or community college.
Host an American Red Cross blood drive in the United States scheduled between June 1 – August 31, 2024.
The student may not adopt an existing blood drive. However, a student may adopt an existing Leaders Save Lives blood drive transitioned from the former Blood Program Leader.
Donor centers and regularly scheduled mobile operations are not eligible as blood drive sites.
A school may be used as a blood drive site as long as school is out of session.
The blood drive may have no more than one Blood Program Leader. Program rewards will not be split among multiple Blood Program Leaders.
Program may not be combined with the American Red Cross High School Scholarship Program, High School Club Program or Community Club Program.
The blood drive must achieve a minimum of 25 pints.
Results will be calculated from one blood drive operation.
Multiple operations may not be combined.

Brooks Law Group Car Accident Scholarship

Eligibility Requirements:
A Current High School senior who will be attending a US College or University in the next fall semester.
Your Background information MUST include where you are from and where you are/will be attending College.
Essays Should be 700 - 1400 words (not including your personal background information).
Essays must contain at least two hyperlinks: one internal (links to a page on Brooks Law Group’s website) and one external (links to a credible information source and cannot link to another law firm).
Essay MUST have a small paragraph with some background information about yourself in ONE file.
Scholarship submission Must include a headshot photo of you.

Glenn Moon Scholarship

A four-year scholarship of $2,000 a year. The four-year scholarship winner must maintain college grades in the upper bracket and must continue teacher preparation training for all 4 years.
A one-year scholarship of $2000 for freshman year.

Elks National Foundation Legacy Awards

Eligibility Requirements:
For the 2024 contest, any child or grandchild (or step-child, step-grandchild, or legal ward) of a living Elk who joined the order on or before April 1, 2021, or a charter member of a Lodge that was instituted on or after April 1, 2021, is eligible to apply.

Eligibility Requirements:
Awarded to any volunteer who is age 21 or younger and has volunteered for a minimum of 100 hours through DAV or DAV Auxiliary.
Volunteer hours can be accumulated at a VA medical center, and/or the Local Veterans Assistance Program (LVAP). Hours must be credited to Disabled American Veterans.
Any accredited institution of higher learning; to include universities, colleges, community colleges, vocational schools, etc.
Recipient attaining the age of 25, or within 6 years of receiving the scholarship, whichever is later.

Eligibility Requirements:
Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent U.S. Resident.
Must be an enrolled (or accepted) woman student in an accredited college or university who is planning on continuing the next year.
Graduating high school seniors who meet the above-mentioned criteria may apply.
Must have a minimum of 30 semester or 45 quarter hours still to be completed.
Must consent to provide a digital photograph of self and quote for display on Study.com if notified as the award winner by the selection committee.

LGBTQ STEM Scholarship

$500 - One Annual Awards
Eligibility Requirements:
Applicants should be pursuing an undergraduate degree in any field of study.
Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent U.S. Resident.
Must be an LGBTQ student enrolled (or accepted) in an accredited college or university to study STEM and planning on continuing the next year.
Graduating high school seniors who meet the above-mentioned criteria may apply.
Must have a minimum of 30 semester or 45 quarter hours still to be completed.
Must consent to provide a digital photograph of self and quote for display on Study.com if notified as the award winner by the selection committee.

Eligibility Requirements:
Be a Current Resident of Derby or Shelton, CT with residence of minimum of four years
Be a graduating high school senior planning to attend college.
Based on Financial need, scholastic ability and Extra-curricular involvement
Re-applicates re-apply for all four years of college.

Eligibility Requirements:
Must be a High school Senior who reside in Connecticut with minimum 3.0 GPA.

Odenza Marketing Group Scholarship
Deadline: November 15, 2024
$500 - 1 Award
To be considered eligible for the Odenza Marketing Scholarship you must:
Be between the ages of 16 and 25 on the day of the deadline.
Submit answers to the essay questions, which can be found on the application page, prior to the deadline.
Have at least one full year of post-secondary studies remaining at the time of the award. (Current High School Students are also eligible.)
Have a GPA of 2.5 or greater.
Be a citizen of the United States or Canada.

Nutmeg Scholarship:

Eligibility Requirements:
Exceptional accomplishments of Connecticut secondary school seniors
Exceptional academic notable service to school and community, possess the qualities of a good citizen and leader.
In addition, all semifinalists and finalists in the National Hispanic Recognition Program or the National Merit Semifinalist Competition are eligible for a nomination.
Nominations are made by the Guidance Counselor's Office at each Connecticut secondary school Nutmeg Scholarship
Day of Pride Scholarship
Deadline : November 1, 2024
Eligibility Requirements:
Awarded to outstanding Connecticut secondary school seniors from disadvantaged backgrounds who have proven academic ability as demonstrated through high school grades, test scores (test-optional), class rank, and letters of recommendation
Commitment to diversity and multiculturalism, demonstrated leadership, and contributions to their community, students should have documented financial need
Nominations are made by the Guidance Counselor's Office at each Connecticut high school.
Awards are based upon a very competitive selection process.
The undergraduate admissions application must be completed by October 30. Day of Pride Scholarship
Presidential Scholars Award for Valedictorians and Salutatorians:
Deadline: December 1, 2024
Eligibility Requirements
Students who rank number one or two in their graduating class will be considered for the Presidential Scholars Award.
An additional one-time Enrichment Award is made available to allow the Presidential Scholar to engage in educationally or professionally enriching activities. For details on how the Enrichment Award may be used, visit http://presidentialscholars.uconn.edu/eligibility/.
Priority consideration will be given to those who complete the application by December 1. (Presidential Scholars Award for Valedictorians and Salutatorians)
